Are PF Bloggers Poor Friends When It Comes to PF?

Having made my recent rounds among the usual PF blogs this weekend, I suddenly had this thought that us PF bloggers can pretty hard on our friends.

If a friend says, “this looks good on you, buy it”, we complain that they are enabling.

If a friend says, “don’t buy stuff/travel, put the money towards debt/savings”, we complain that they are negative nancys; that we “need to have a life while paying down debt”; that “we could die tomorrow”.

If a friend says nothing, we complain that they are “not interested in personal finance matters”, and “why does no one talk about money???!!!”

Are friends and acquaintances of PF bloggers “damned if you do, and damned if you don’t”?

Hahah devil’s advocate: We’re the best of both worlds. We’ll look at it and give you the nod if we’re any good with regard to the looks, (I’m not) but then remind you of your goals and ask you: does that fit in with your goals?

OR ask: which friend am I right now? Am I just your regular shopping friend or your PF friend or am I both?

And to my regular friends, I always wear both hats but hide the PF one which means I keep the PF questions to a limit of one: is this going to get you in any trouble/get in the way of any goals/do you need this right now? Etc.

You have a point though 🙂
